Review: Maybelline Babylips!

Hi everyone! Would just like to apologize for the lack of posts lately, had a huge uni project where I spent about 15 hours a day doing my project (ouch) but now I'm back with a review of the Maybelline Babylips as promised!

These little babies have become an absolute favourite of mine. They come in quite a few colours but the shades I have are Cherry Me, Peach Kiss, Pink Punch and Peppermint. First of all, how cute is the packaging? I love how bright and colourful they are, not only do they look nicer but it also makes them far easier to find in your handbag.

Another great thing about them is the scent. Oh my gosh, they smell incredible. Obviously the smells are self explanatory by their names but everytime you apply them you're met with a beautiful fruity scent. On top of this, they provide a lovely tint to the lips and are pretty buildable pigmentation for a lip balm. However, if all this wasn't enough, the thing I love most about them is how well they moisturize my lips. I get extremely dry, chapped lips and the only things I have ever found to help them is Korres Lip Butters, these and the Burts Bees lip balms but these are definitely my favourite. They never settle into the fine lines of my lips, moisturize them completely in a matter of seconds and just generally feel so light and comfortable on the lips. I'm definitely one of those people who don't really like thick, creamy lipsticks so they are perfect if you're the same.

Cherry Me

Peach Kiss

Pink Punch
Peppermint (build up!)

I purchased mine from Cosmetics & Candy and Ebay for pretty cheap, coming in at a few pounds all together per product. However, a lot of Ebay sellers will combine postage if you buy a couple! In conclusion, it's safe to say I'm absolutely obsessed and they have already become an all time favourite product for me that I would highly recommend to anyone! Now just to get my hands on all the limited edition ones...

Products Worth The Hype #1

Thursday, March 21, 2013

So after a pretty negative review last time, I really wanted to inject a bit more positivity back into my blog by doing a products worth the hype post! I was actually supposed to put this up a couple of days ago so I apologize for the delay, end of the uni year means a lot of deadlines! Anyway, onto the products I picked out :)

Nars Deep Throat - Although Nars Orgasm tends to be their most popular shade, I much prefer the pinky peachness of this one. It's my favourite pink blush and an all time favourite too! Their blushes in general last really well and have great pigmentation to match.

Korres Lip Butters - I will definitely have to do a post dedicated to these, I absolutely love them! Wild Rose is my favourite shade, I just find these offer a nice light tint whilst really moisturizing my lips. I own about four and always apply the Guava one before bed without fail to dodge dry lips.

MAC Eyeshadows - Of all the ones I own, I have only ever had a couple that I have found haven't suited me but I absolutely adore them. My favourite shades are All That Glitters, Malt and Sable but I really love them all for great pigmentation, amazing colour ranges and an all round good quality.

Real Technique Brushes - No longer do I have to spend a load of money on Sigma brushes as these are just perfect! Soft, easy to clean and are all great multi-use brushes.

Maybelline Babylips - I will definitely have to do a full review of these soon! I'm absolutely obsessed. They moisturize my lips, smell amazing, look pretty with any look and I want them all!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipsticks - I saw these on quite a few blogs before I purchased them but these are the best drugstore lipsticks! I do really like Rimmel Kate Moss but the smell does put me off a little so these beat them to the post. They are so comfortable to wear and there are so many lovely shades. My favourite has been the one pictured, #18 which is a deep berry purple.

Wet N Wild Walking On Eggshells Palette - Again, I haven't had this long but it's so great! I'd heard so much about this particular palette and though the shades are very shimmery I love the pigmentation and the colours so much.

NARS Laguna Bronzer - This is one of my HG products (and I don't have many, I'm very fickle!). The perfect colour, not too warm or too cool and works beautifully all over or just in the contours of my face. I will never not have this in my collection!

What products do you feel are worth the hype? I'd love to know other peoples! x

Disappointing Product: Kleancolor Polishes

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Hi everyone! You may remember a while ago I posted a haul and in that haul, I showed these Kleancolor polishes from Ebay. As I said then, I will be making my way through some of the products in that haul to do reviews when I feel I've given them a full test. Unfortunately today I'm gonna be writing a pretty negative review about these polishes as they just did not live up to my expectations!

As you can see in the bottles, they look beautiful. However, the reason I'm really not impressed is the terrible application of them! First of all, bare in mind these cost £18 for 6. I want to write this post because I really do not think they are worth it at all!

This shade is Aurora. The swatches above are about five coats of it and in those five coats, two or three nails only got one star from it. I'm lazyish when it comes to nails, I don't want to have to paint 5+ coats of glitter on top of another shade which has already taken a couple of coats, who has that time to paint a seven coat nail?! I thought maybe I could work with it but by the time enough glitter came out my nail polish was way too thick and didn't dry at all :(

Twinkly Love was the biggest disapointment of all. The first swatch is far left and as you can see, it's totally clear. This was after three coats - not one thing came out! The second is five coats where only one came out. The second two took 7+ coats!

This shade was the best of a bad bunch, Take A Hint. Plenty of glitter came out in about three coats so I will probably hang on to this one as it did look pretty with less effort than the other two but still isn't a great formula!

Sorry to make such a negative post but I actually love to read these kind of things so you're aware in case you're interested in something! I will keep posting reviews of the haul items and hopefully will have some better luck ;)

What product has disappointed you lately? I'd love to know!

Wishlist #2

Beautysets - wishlist

Now as you may have seen from my last two posts, I definitely don't need to be doing anymore shopping but a girl can dream right? A lot of these things are recently released or about to be for summer collections which has lead to a wishlist far longer than my arm.

The first thing is the beautiful Summer 2013 Clarins Palette. I have a MAC Palette that is pretty full and try to not have too much more eyeshadow than that but it just never happens! I go through phases. First it was lipstick, then blush, then foundations and now eyeshadows and this quad has my favourite types of shades to wear all inside one really pretty palette. Love. Despite just having this picture, I really want this entire collection.

I also adore the look of the colours from the new Models Own collection that I'm sure comes out in the next week or so. Scented and pastel? Yep, definitely perfect for summer. Third on the list is another Clinique foundation. I already own their Stay Matte one, which is currently my favourite base so would love to try out some of their others. Originally I wanted the pore refining, but it doesn't go pale enough so may try the acne one out as although I don't really get spots, I'm guessing it'll be good for my oily t-zone!

4 & 7 can be grouped together as me being pretty impressed by Benefit's latest releases. I have to reveal to you all that admittedly I'm not a total lover of Benefit. I love their packaging and think they have some great products but I do think a lot of it is overpriced and dupeable unfortunately. However, this palette again contains four shades all of which I'd get use out of and I'm hearing amazing things about the concealer too!

Next is a MAC item, namely their Mineralize Lipsticks. These are a recent release and I haven't heard much at all about them so if you've tried them (as with all these things) I'd love to know your thoughts! I just think they have such nice shades and the idea of a different formulation really appeals to me!

Finally is something I really really don't need and that's the Tarte Blush in Exposed. After recently trying out the blush in Amused I'm so impressed and would love to try more. This shade is pretty similar to NARS Douceur which is an all time favourite so I just know I'd love this too!

Again, I'd love to know if any of you guys have tried any of these and what you think of them! Is there any recent releases that have appealed to you? :)

American Goodies

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Another day, another haul. This is pretty shameful as I didn't actually need any of this stuff but when I saw a couple of people on Twitter say they use a website that sells American goods without the hefty shipping prices I was intrigued. Upon looking at the website, I found a ton of stuff I'd lusted over for ages - hense ANOTHER haul! I tried to limit myself but still somehow ended up with quite a few bits..!

So first up I picked up the Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Palette in 'Walking On Eggshells'. I have so much eyeshadow already but couldn't resist this! Heard so many good things about it and after using it a couple of times, I can definitely see why. The colours are beautiful, pigmented and buttery soft which is amazing at £--! I'd definitely get more of these little palettes if it weren't for the size of my collection.

I also picked up two more of the Maybelline Babylips after purchasing Cherry Me and Pink Punch from Ebay a couple of weeks ago and being really impressed. These ones are the Peppermint and the Peach. They even had an offer on the site of a free babylips with your order so I actually only paid for one which was amazing! I've yet to try these ones out but expect a full review of them soon.

Next is another cult product, the EOS Lip Balm, which I got in Summer Fruits. I have to say, so far I'm not blown away with this. I didn't find it really did a lot in terms of moisturization but maybe over time it'll work better!

Bit of a random one next which is the Extra Dessert Delights Gum in Mint Chocolate Chip. I'm really intrigued by these as I can't eat dairy or egg which pretty much knocks out 99% of actual desserts for me plus I'm on a healthy eating kick so feel these will be great for when I have any cravings!

The biggest splurge of all was a Tarte Blush which I got in the shade Amused - a bright pink. It took all my power to just order one but this looked like the most appealing shade to me that wasn't too similar to anything I already own and I love it! It provides a really pretty doll like flush without being overpowering and lasted longer than any of my MAC or NARS blushers which is a big statement.

Finally I picked  up the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded and it's definitely love. Why they don't bring over the neutral shades to the UK I'll never know because this would sell amazingly here. It's a really pretty, pigmented champagne shade which works as a great base and alone also.

The website I got these from was http://www.cosmeticsandcandy.com/ which I'd highly recommend if you're after some stuff we can't get here :) this isn't a sponsored post in any way, shape or form but I just wanted to share it with you in case you're after things such as these like me!

Are you lusting after any of these items too?

Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil: My Oily Skin Saviour!

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Hi everyone! Just going to start of my apologizing for the lack of posts over the last few days, Thursday was my 21st and since then I've not been on my computer much at all. Thursday I had a meal with my family, Friday-Saturday I was at a Spa with my mum and sister (bliss!) and Saturday had a big night out with friends which I'm still paying for! Enough about that and on to one of my favourite finds I have ever come across, the Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil!

I will start off by saying if you're anything like me, I was so skeptical and scared at the thought of putting oil on my oily skin. Surely it would just make me oilier? The answer is a definite no. First off, I love the smell of the product. It's sort of a light herbal scent and bare in mind I'm never usually a fan of herbal. I also like the little perpet which makes for giving you the perfect amount to spread all over your face at night. Like I said before, I didn't expect much at all to come of this other than to become more oily but I was completely wrong!

I would now never be without this! I've tried everything to fix my oily t-zone from cleansers, to masks, to foundations and all have either done nothing or helped me stay oil free for an extra hour. The first couple of days I used this my skin felt soft and brightened in the morning, all the oil had sunk in over night and my skin looked healthy. I thought to myself great, I spent all this money just to get the same effect I can already get from other products in my collection. However a week on, the difference is incredible. Oil production on my face has gone down massively, to the point i'm only touching up my powder once throughout the day instead of every couple of hours. On top of this, my foundation goes on far nicer and my pores are visibly reduced (something I don't say about many products at all!).

You start off using the product alone after cleansing and toning overnight, then you move on to mixing it with whatever moisturizer you usually use at night which I am about to do. If you don't have combination/oily skin, there is also a dry skin formula which I've heard is great too.

If you're nervous about putting oil on oily skin don't be, it's helped balance my skin out and stop oil production all throughout the day and done wonders for my skin. This is now a skincare staple in my routine and I will never be without it!

Have you tried this? What's your oily skin saviour?

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Today I thought I'd share with you the first of my reviews on my recent beauty buys the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer. Until I saw this on a blog a little while ago I'd really heard nothing about this concealer but had heard a lot about the foundation. I've never tried the foundation itself as from what I hear it's better on more normal/dry skintypes and I tend to go for matter bases to help with my oilier nose which is vastly becoming the bane of my life!

I'll start off by saying this is most definitely a rave review from me. I've tried so so many concealers and this is definitely an all time favourite. I'd say in terms of shade it's a pretty neural colour, neither too pink nor too yellow which should please a variety of people. I wear the shade 'Ivory' which is the lightest shade and one major disappointment with this shade as I see with most drugstore concealers is there are only three shades, not ideal!

The consistency is pretty light which is key for me. I have some mild milia under my eyes so anything that isn't too heavy works a lot better for my skin. The concealers I buy are always for the purpose of using under the eye so I can't comment on how this fairs on covering on other areas of the skin but this is fantastic as an undereye concealer! It lightens and brightens, the main thing I look for in my concealers, whilst offering a good coverage with a natural finish and blends beautifully into my skin without going at all cakey, something I found begun to happen with my Collection concealers and the Maybelline Lumi Touch.

The applicator is a little like the Lumi Touch and the Collection Illuminating Touch in the straw like end which with those you twist to get product out but with this you squeeze it. I like these type of applicators as I find them far easier to get the right amount of product and more hygienic too.

Before with no makeup

After with concealer and foundation

You may be able to tell that I have lines under my eyes but I can confirm that this isn't a fault in the concealer setting into lines, my eyes always have creases there with and without makeup (lucky me at the grand old age of almost 21!). Honestly I will repurchase this again and again as the only thing I've found that is on par with it is the Origins concealer (£16) and this is £5.99!

Have you tried this? What's your favourite undereye concealer?

Recent Beauty Purchases

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Hi everyone! Been a bit bad lately with my 21st coming up and bought myself a few beauty bits that have been on my wishlist for a while. It started with Beauty Bay, then went onto Ebay and purchased some products unavailable in the UK and finally, a few things from Boots. So, onto the haul! :)

www.beautybay.co.uk

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray - I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this but I've wanted to try it for ages! I get a very oily T-Zone so i'm willing to try anything that may help it.

Urban Decay Primer Potion - My MAC Paint Pots aren't working on my oilier eyelids anymore annoyingly and I remember this primer being really good when I've used it before. I was torn between this and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance but as this one is £3 for the same amount I thought I'd go for this one.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Goldeneye - I saw this on someone's blog a while ago and absolutely fell in love with the shade. In the bottle it doesn't look like my kind of polish but swatches I've seen tell me otherwise!

Essie Butler Please - Although I'm not the biggest fan of Essie's formula this shade is undeniably beautiful. I actually really wanted Topshop's AWOL polish but they've annoyingly stopped doing it and this was the most similar shade I could find

www.ebay.co.uk

Kleancolor Polishes - I saw the shade Twinkly Love on Lily's blog and fell in love. I took up the offer of six (I got two of the Twinkly Love shade, far right) and also purchased Blind Date (small multi-coloured stars), Firework (copper with multi coloured glitter chunks), Take A Hint (lilac with iridescent glitter) and Aurora (pink with iridescent stars and glitter). I got them from here and I'd highly recommend the seller.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Papaya - I probably don't need to rave about these anymore since my post on how much I love them. This shade is unavailable in the UK but it's just a gorgeous corally shade that will be perfect for summer.

Maybelline Babylips in Pink Punch and Cherry Me - I've wanted these for ages and despite hearing rumours of them coming to the UK at some point, I couldn't wait! So far I adore them, they leave a pretty tint and work really well for moisturizing my lips too.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers - My eyelash curlers completely broke last week and I completely gave into the hype and purchased these. To be honest, I've only used them once but so far I'm not overly impressed. They do the job, but no better than my normal cheaper ones and I find they're a weirdish shape, but we'll see!

Boots

17 Miracle Matte Powder - The hunt continues for the dream way to stop my T-Zone from being oily! I've heard Mel say she loves this and after being left disappointed by the Rimmel Stay Matte I'm hoping for good things from this powder!

Rimmel Match Perfection - I'm on the hunt for a really good drugstore brightening concealer and saw this on a blog (cannot for the life of me remember which!) how someone with great taste in makeup loves this so thought I'd give it a go!

Toni & Guy Advanced Detox - If you read my latest post you'll know I'd never be without this! I won't say much more than it's amazing and you should try it.

Have you tried any of these products?

A Haircare Favourite: Toni & Guy Detox Shampoo

Saturday, February 16, 2013

Hi everyone! So I thought I'd steer away from makeup and nails today to talk to you about one of my HG products, Toni & Guy Detox Shampoo. I have to be honest here and say I'm not that fussy about haircare, as long as it leaves my hair relatively soft, shiny and detangled I'm happy, meaning that a lot of the products in my routine are totally interchangable.

Toni and Guy Cleanse Shampoo for Advanced Detox £5.99 for 250ml
I picked this up from Boots for the first time a few months ago, completely on a whim. I'd never read a review on it or heard of it prior to purchasing and still haven't now. However, I'd seen and tried products of its kind from more expensive brands, namely the Phyto Detox shampoo. The idea is that once a week, you use this as your shampoo to get rid of any excess product build up on your scalp to leave your hair feeling squeaky clean. Although the Phyto offering did do this, it also cost £10.50 which for me, is a lot to spend on a haircare item. It also smelt VERY strongly like cleaning product which was a little off putting to say the least! So when I spotted this one whilst T&G products were on offer and I didn't more conditioner, I thought why not give it a go?

Three bottles later, it is safe to say this is one of the best impulsive purchases I've ever made, I love it! It does everything the more expensive versions do amazingly, I actually think it leaves my hair feeling even nicer than the Phyto. It also smells beautiful, the normal hair salon smell you love to find in a product. I'd really urge more people to try this before buying any of the more expensive brands' offerings, I really couldn't see myself without it! It leaves you hair feeling so clean and so soft and best of all, far cheaper.

The Phyto Detox Shampoo works out at £21.00 for 250ml.
Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo is £15.50 for 250ml
Toni & Guy Detox Shampoo is £5.99 for 250ml

You can find it on the Boots website here, and it's currently 3 for 2 :)

My Valentine's Day Inspired Nails

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

I'm not a massive fan of Valentine's Day myself but I do like to get in the spirit of holidays slightly and this is often done through nail art! I've done these nails before and just think they look so cute, i'm really terrible at anything too fiddly so if you're like me and like easy to do but nice looking nails then look no further!

So like I mentioned before, I don't have the most steady hand hense the slight wobbly heart here and there! However, even if you're the same as me, they are so easy to do! For this nail art, I used Essie's Fiji which as you may have guessed from my post on overhyped beauty products I'm not in love with due to the formula but the colour is beautiful after the required effort, Topshop Helter Skelter which is like MAC Impassioned in a polish and dotting tools which my housemates got me from Ebay!

After painting on three layers of Fiji and letting it fully dry, I then took some of the Topshop polish and dabbed it onto a piece of paper. From that amount, I then dipped the dotting tool into the product and drew on two lines diagonally opposite eachother to create a heart shape. You can do them either to face you or away from you, but I chose to do them so they would face other people for this! Then all there's is to do is add a top coat and you're good to go :)

Hope this was helpful for any amateurs like me and have a lovely day Thursday whatever you're doing!

Overhyped Beauty Products That Didn't Work For Me

Saturday, February 9, 2013

I need to start this post by saying that all these products are just my opinion of what didn't work for me so please don't completely take my word for it or get offended if you see a product you love in here as the chances are, you will! I wanted to do a post about products I wasn't mad about purely because I find them an interesting read and I think they can sometimes be just as helpful as positive reviews. A lot of these are loved by a lot of people but for some reason or another they either disappointed me or just did nothing for me. With that long intro out the way, here are my thoughts!

1) Nars Orgasm Blush - Now, anyone that reads my blog knows I absolutely love NARS products, especially their blushers. I think this is why I was left so disappointed by this shade. I was expecting the most incredible blush when on me it was way way too shimmery and glitterball. I much prefer Deep Throat as I find it way more flattering on me.

2) Origins GinZing Eye Cream - Another product from one of my favourite brands. For me, this eye cream just didn't do anything. My Eye Doctor from Origins does a brilliant job of soothing my eye area and brightening whereas with this one, I saw no brightening effect. It's a nice eye cream, just disappointing as it didn't do what it was designed to do on me!

3) Essie Polishes - I can already tell people definitely won't like this one! I cannot fault Essie on having some amazing colours and I do own a few of them purely because of this. But I find these so disappointing in formula. On my nails they chip after one or two days wear and the majority I've tried have been really streaky which is such a shame.

4) Revlon Colorstay Foundation - This has no lasting power on the oily areas of my face at all. It really disappointed me because all I hear are rave reviews of how long this lasts and on my normal areas it really does, but no longer than any of my other foundations which do this and stay on the oilier places. Also hated the paint smell but would have been able to get over that if it had worked for me!

5) Caudelie Beauty Elixir - Another product that did nothing for my skin. It actually made me skin pretty red and I didn't find it brightened or soothed at all.

6) Nuxe Reve De Miel - I must be the only person who didn't like this lip balm! I found it way way too thick, it left a gross film on my lips (I woke up with so much of that lip gunk, ergh) and wasn't comfortable to wear at all. It didn't even moisturize my lips no matter how I applied it. Much prefer my Korres Lip Butters for moisturization.

7) Rimmel Stay Matte - This was just okay for me. Didn't really control oil enough to be a cult product for me, it did an okay job but it just didn't blow me away. However, on other skin types I've seen this look flawless.

8) Urban Decay Eyeshadows - This isn't the Naked Palette in particular or even everything about Urban Decay eyeshadows. I love love love some of the shades they bring out and their matte ones are faultless. But I cannot deal with all the fallout the shimmery shades bring which is why I'm selling mine in my blogsale! I'm very much a 'in a rush' kind of makeup person so don't have the time to sit with a tissue under my eye to stop having a glittery face unfortunately, but again, the shades are incredible if you have the time to work with them a bit!

9) MAC Lipglasses - Any formulation of MAC lipglosses I find sticky, thick and gloopy. Would not recommend anyone get these are you can get incredible quality lipglosses for cheaper. Their eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks are far better quality for your money!

10) Alpha H Liquid Gold (not pictured) - Another product I didn't see any results with. To be fair to it, I just believe it was far too strong for my sensitive skin and made it red and sting a lot so may be one for tougher skin I think!

I'd love to hear what products don't work for you or if you've experienced anything similar than me with any of them!

NOTD: Revlon Plum Seduction

Thursday, February 7, 2013

Revlon Plum Seduction £7.99

I figured I hadn't done a nail post in a while and after wearing this colour the last few days I decided now would be the perfect time to review Revlon's Plum Seduction. I haven't had this colour too long after purchasing it on a whim a couple of weeks ago but I absolutely adore it!

To me, this is a great transitional colour from Winter to Spring, a mid-toned purple pink that is perfect for brightening up an outfit without being too in your face. As always with Revlon I find application to be super easy and opaque - this one only taking two coats. It lasted around four days on my nails which is great for me because I try to change my nail polish about twice a week to stop myself getting bored. The finish was also nice and glossy and I'd highly recommend it for any time of year :)

What's your favourite Revlon or transitional nail colour?

Favourite products under £5!

Saturday, February 2, 2013

I wanted to do something a bit different today and speak about my favourite bargain products. My blog has covered a lot of my most loved expensive items so it's easy for the cheaper repurchases to get overlooked. These are all things I've either already repurchased or would repurchase when they run out and thought it would be a bit of a different, hopefully interesting post!

Radox Spa Smoothie Bath Soak Fig and Neroli Oil (£2.20) - This is a bit of a random one but this product is something I always pick up as soon as it runs out. The scent is absolutely incredible and it leaves my skin soft after use.

Elf Wet Gloss and Brow Clear Mascara (£1.50) - I already spoke about this in my 2012 favourites but I absolutely adore this stuff. It is so so cheap (but do bare in mind I have to order this online so always do in bulk to save in postage costs!) and I honestly feel it does a just as good if not better job than any more expensive brow product and sets my brows all day. I use this purely for brow setting so can't comment on it as a mascara but a definite staple in my makeup bag I'd never, ever be without.

Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream (£4.35) - Another apricot scented product! I only started using this a few months ago and it's just amazing. It makes the process of sorting out any dryness or cuticles around my nails so easy and works within a couple of minutes. It's also not too drying on my skin. You can get this cheaper if you look around but I did mine for the price I bought it for in Boots!

St Ives Apricot Scrub Invigorating (£4.29 but currently £2.86 from Boots!) - This scrub is really good and such a good price for the results it gives. I have to be honest and say I'm not mad on the apricot scent as it is very strong, something to be aware of if you like unscented products but it does a lovely job of leaving my skin soft, smooth and brightened. They also do a sensitive one and a blemish prone but I find this one fine for my sensitive, oilyish skin.

Rimmel Stronger Base Coat (£4.59) - I've used this for years and it's a really great base coat. Dries quickly, stops my nails from breaking and does the job perfectly. I've never felt the need to try any other base coat, though I do sometimes use Nail Envy if my nails are particularly weak.

Barry M Polishes (Coral Pictured) (£2.99) - I'm sure everyone is getting sick to death of my raving about these polishes so all I will say is they last ages, have an amazing colour range and are super easy to apply. They're on offer a lot too! My favourite nail polish brand.

Topshop Polishes (£5.00) - Another amazing makeup/nail brand is Topshop. Their nail varnish is really glossy, opaque and long lasting and I'd really recommend this also. They also do my all time favourite polish, Topshop Celestial!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Nude (£3.99) - This stuff is the best for making your eyes instantly brightened and awake. I use this most days, particularly on those early mornings and wouldn't be without it now. I'll be honest and say something controversial though! For me personally, this is the only one I've tried that I love.. the Taupe shade did not show up on my waterline however much I tried and the black one really smudged under my eyes!

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lipliners (Indian Pink pictured) (£2.99) - These and the Topshop lip liners are the only ones I will use. I've never felt the need to buy a high end lip liner as I find these work so well and have a great range of colours. They don't drag, they aren't too drying considering they're a lip liner and do the job perfectly.

No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadows (£7.00) - Right, this is a cheat one because these are £7.00 if you buy them full price but I always get mine when I get the £5 off vouchers, making them £2.00 so please forgive me! These are something I recently tried and I have the shades Wheatsheaf and Yellowshine. I'm so so impressed with these, they are buttery soft and lovely shades that definitely rival my MAC shadows, my favourite drugstore eyeshadows for sure.

Soap and Glory Hand Food (£5.00) - Aah my favourite hand cream. It smells of marshmellows, moisturizes without being greasy and is super cheap for the results it gives. I use this so much in Winter and it works wonderfully.

So there you have it! Just an honorable mention, Collection's Lasting Perfection is an amazing concealer but I don't really use it as I find it a bit too much under the eyes. However, if ever my skin gets a rash from a product or if I've had dairy I love it for more coverage!

Rouge Edition Lipsticks £7.99 and Eyeliner in Purple Night £4.99
Currently buy one get one half price in Boots

This week has definitely become a week of lip related posts! Hoping you're not too bored of them yet, I thought I'd write a review of the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Collection. It features 18 shades in total, featuring 6 nude shades (Preppy), 6 brighter shades (Colour Block) and 6 darker, evening shades (Night Out). There was such a pleasing range of different shades for different occasions but I managed to narrow my choices down to two, one colour block and one night out shade.

#17 Rose Millesme - This one is the lighter shade in the 'night out' range. On me, this is a beautiful neutral pink shade with a hint of plummish undertones.

#10 Rouge Buzz - This is a bright orange red that makes a wonderful statement lip.

I have to say, after testing a more neutral and a brighter shade I can confirm that these are not only very pigmented, but also an extremely comfortable and creamy finish that is almost unnoticeable on the lips. These have been likened to MAC Cremesheen's but I find them far less heavy and much easier and smoother to apply. They have a light sheen finish and hydrated my lips throughout the entire day. I did need to top them up once or twice, but overall I'm really impressed with these and would definitely look into getting more if I didn't have lipstick overload at the moment!

On the same stand as the lipsticks, I also noticed Bourjois' other latest collection, Artisto Clash. I'll be honest here and say the nail polishes and eyeshadow didn't really stand out to me, the eyeshadow was super shimmery and the nail polishes.. well, I definitely have enough of them! However, I spotted the eyeliner and couldn't be happier. I've wanted a purple shade to smudge under the lower lash line for months now and this one is just beautiful!

As you can see from the picture, it has fine shimmer through it but this is not at all gritty or uncomfortable on the skin or inner eye. My favourite way to wear it is smudged under the lash line with a gold shadow on the lid. I absolutely love this for a pop of colour and love how it makes green eyes stand out. It also lasted really, really well so if you're like me and not quite ready for bright eyeshadow looks I would really try this out :)

Have you tried anything from the new Bourjois collections?

Dior Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder

Monday, January 28, 2013

This was a recent naughty purchase that I decided to reward myself after losing a stone (woohoo!) since I've decided it's a great motivator to purchase something from my wishlist everytime I lose a substantial amount. It's been on my wishlist for ages ever since I saw Tanya Burr use it in some of her videos and fell in love with the way it looked when the light hit! It's my first Dior product and I have to say, I'm extremely impressed.

The powder itself is so finely milled and buttery soft. As you can see from swatches below, it's a lovely light golden shade that blends effortlessly to give an amazing glow. It isn't too glittery, it's more of a sheen across your cheeks and doesn't make me look oily at all, just really lovely and healthy! As always with Dior, the packaging is beautiful and sleek, with a handy decent sized mirror inside for topping up any makeup. The spongey applicator is actually pretty good as far as in-product tools come and works well to dab the product onto your cheekbones without overdoing it.

It's usually about £32, but I purchased mine here from Escentual.com for just under £5 cheaper which I don't think is too bad for 10g of high end product!

Have you tried this? What's your favourite highlighter? :)

Review: Rimmel Apocalips!

Saturday, January 26, 2013

I don't know about all of you, but when I saw that Rimmel were bringing out a lip laquer similar to higher end offerings I was definitely intrigued. After hearing so much about the Armani Maestro versions but deciding they were way out my price range for a product of it's kind I was overjoyed to hear there would be a drugstore dupe and after seeing them on various different blogs I knew I had to have them! Pigmented? Check. Amazing colours? Check. Comfortable wear? Check. They sounded right up my street! :)

From L-R: Luna, Celestial, Stellar, Apocaliptic, Big Bang

One thing I can say is they definitely fulfilled all the promised claims. As you can see from swatches, the colour payoff is amazing and these really are liquid lipsticks, they didn't move all day, especially the brighter shades! The colours I chose were Luna, Celestial, Stellar, Apocaliptic and Big Bang. The other shades in the range are a brown-toned nude (Nude Eclipse), a pinky shade I also really want (Nova) and a plummy shade (Galaxy) which I didn't get purely as I own SO many plums! The packaging for these is also lovely, I love how you can see the colour at the bottom and it almost looks a bit sleek whilst not being too boring.

The formula is so wonderful - creamy and opaque with minimal effort required in terms of topping it up throughout the day and the price is what makes these even better at £5.99 each. The only negatives I would point out is this can have a tendancy to go a bit everywhere if you don't apply a lip liner around your lips prior to application. Also, I would comment that the lighter shades can be a bit patchy and Luna definitely took a little more effort to look good but this is an easily fixed problem :)

Luna - I have to say, this shade was my least favourite of the ones I picked up. I found the formula of this to be quite patchy and unflattering, you could see a lot of imperfections on my lips. However with a lip scrub, this one does make a lovely peachy shade that I'd liken slightly to MAC Shy Girl.

Celestial - This is what I'd consider the everyday lip choice of the bunch. I adore this shade, a lovely neutral pink/plum that I've found works with a variety of makeup looks! This one reminds me a lot of MAC Plumful which I also like a lot.

Stellar - This shade is another one of my picks of the bunch! An amazing bright corally pink that is so similar to MAC Impassioned on the lips it's crazy! Definitely an amazing summer shade that I cannot wait to wear.

Apocaliptic - This is the fuschia pink of the lot, another very bright shade with blue undertones. This will be a great 'nights out' option for me, especially with it's similarity to MAC Girl About Town which is my favourite for those sorts of occasions!

Big Bang - Eeeek sorry, you can kind of see what I mean about the bleeding thing with this one! This is an amazing red and one I will definitely reach for on lazy days where I'm wearing simple eye and face makeup as it'll make an amazing statement lip! I don't have a MAC dupe for this as a lot of people are saying Russian Red but to me it's far lighter and pinker!

Overall, I'm so impressed with Rimmel at the moment, they are definitely upping their game and bringing out some incredible products. I really believe these are one product absolutely worth the hype and one of my favourite launches of the last year by far!

What colour do you like from this collection? Have you picked any of these up?
